Urologic conditions we treat
The urologists at our hospital treat patients with all types of conditions affecting the male reproductive tract and urinary system, including:
- Bladder cancer—growth of abnormal cells in the bladder
- Enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH))—enlargement of the prostate gland that causes pain during urination
- Erectile dysfunction—male sexual impotence
- Kidney disease—occurs when the kidneys are no longer able to filter blood properly

Prostate cancer
The prostate gland is located between the bladder and penis and the urethra runs through the middle of it. It is responsible for producing fluids that support the nourishment and transportation of sperm. Prostate cancer occurs in men when cancer cells are present in the prostate gland.
At Englewood Community Hospital, our urologic surgeons perform prostatectomies to treat prostate cancer. Additionally, prostate cancer can be treated through seed implant brachytherapy, where radioactive seeds are placed in the prostate gland that release low levels of radiation.
